Joyce Turgo Make-up

I went to Quiapo with a budget of 5k, I thought of buying a portable mirror with light but it's way too expensive for me. So I ended up buying a new hair and make-up trolley, it's quite worth it though.

PIKCHUR PIKCHUR!!!

Nyx and Bare Minerals Pigments

My Nyx order finally arrived! I got new palettes and lipcolors, its pigments are very much opaque compared to other popular brands. I like the quality so much, it's like a cheaper MAC make-up :-) I'll be sticking with this brand of make-up now.

Last Day at Work 09/30/2010

I really don't know the reason why designing doesn't love me. I felt that 2 years ago, I've been questioning myself if I should stop graphic designing and try to focus on opening a business. Fortunately, I was able to do make-up now -- so while jobless starting tomorrow I will try to get more clients and encourage some of my friends to join my personal make-up workshop that will be done every Saturday at A.Venue.

Good thing I was able to enroll for my Hair 101 this coming Saturday, after that training I will try to force myself to watch hair styling videos in Youtube and gotta do more research and build more confidence and enthusiasm while trying to pursue another career. Good luck to me!

Pre-Makeup: Always start with moisturizer to create the perfect base for makeup.

Step 1. Corrector/Concealer: Apply concealer and brush powder over it to set the concealer in place

Step 2. Foundation: Remember to blend well or for sheer coverage; use tinted moisturizer to even out the skin tone.

Step 3. Powder: Dust powder around the nose and forehead.

Step 4. Blush: Smile and apply a natural shade of blush on the apples of your cheeks. For a warm tint, use bronzer where the sun normally hits the face-cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin.

Step 5. Lipstick: Choose a color that will either match or be slightly darker than your lips. If you have thin lips, avoid dark shades since these have a minimizing effect.

Step 6. Lip Liner: Use this to achieve natural looking lip definition. To make lipstick or gloss last longer, line and fill in lips with lip liner before applying color.

Step 7. Brows: Sebastien’s tip for Asian eyes is to start at the middle of your brow and go outward with pencil and then layer powder shadow on top that matches your hair color.

Step 8. Eye Shadow: Sweep a light shadow from lash line to the brown bone. Dust medium eye shadow on the lower lid to the crease.

Step 9. Eyeliner: Apply to the upper lash line. Sebastien doesn’t recommend lining the lower lids because of Manila’s humid weather; it will just end up smearing!

Step 10. Mascara: First, curl your lashes to open up your eyes, and then add two to three coats. Curling lashes after applying mascara can break the lashes.

Bobbi Brown has a note at the beginning of the chapter: “Makeup is simple. When you know how to apply it and have an organized makeup drawer, it should only take five to ten minutes."

Each step of the “Ten-Step Guide to Perfect Makeup" is further discussed individually in the book. It also has a special section on Asian beauty-a plus, since most beauty guides address Caucasian and Olive skins only.

The book is not only informative, it’s entertaining as well. You’ll find interesting trivia like:

In 2500 B.C.E. the Sumerians invented the first tweezers to get rid of unwanted hair.

In 400 B.C.E. women from various cultures used powders made from crushed minerals to color their skin.

We had our shoot yesterday at MDA School, we thought that we'll be having celebrities to put make-up on them but we were told that the school will be featured in this program this coming saturday at 7:00 am. I'm one of the extras haha! it's gonna be my second time to be shown in the tv. Unfortunately, I cannot watch it on that day because I'll be in Cebu and the cameraman told me that their programs from Manila are always 1 week delayed and will be shown 2 weeks from now.

So sad, I won't be able to see myself on television haha!

It's my first time to attend a make-up demo from one of the leading make-up brands in Asia. Although the make-up is really for fall/winter, I guess I can change the colors if I'm gonna wear it but same style of make-up application.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of Shu Uemura indeed, however when they introduced their products to us I got convinced that their products are really good especially their cleansing oil. I bought the regular size to try it out and my skin's reaction on it so far is quite good.

Picture
Another thing that I learned from them is that they're the only make-up brand who cuts their pencil differently. They use knife or cutter to trim it sideways for better application on the eyebrows.

My overall experience in Shu Uemura products is really great, I won't be thinking of their prices anymore because everything's absolutely worth it. So when I got back home in our shop, I told my sister that I got 15% discount from them and I convinced her to try out their products because there's no Shu Uemura in the States.

I headed back to Rockwell with my sister, mom and Moocha my dog and met Patrick there. He had a semi make-over to my sister to show how worth it their products are and ended up buying their UV primer, Face Architect, lipstick and blusher -- she saved 2,000 pesos from my discount :-)

On our way to the parking area, she told me that the make-up she bought are definitely cheap compared to Laura Mercier or even Bobbi Brown. Well, all them them are good brands though, yet I'll be sticking with Japanese make-up now.

It is going to be my first time to attend a make-up demo that will be done by a chief make-up artist. I'm so excited to watch and learn new techniques and styles from John Pagaduan this coming sunday in Rockwell. Also, I've been yearning to see my MDA classmates again, hope to see them all complete this coming sunday ^_^
